Guatemala Mission Trip

OPPORTUNITY FOR SERVICE

GUATEMALA!

Natchez Children's Home Services is offering a special opportunity for a unique experience.  The time is Thanksgiving Week (November 22-29, 2008) and the place is Guatemala.   I was there recently and visited two ministries I believe are worthy of support.  One of them is a "safe place" for children in the most impoverished part of Guatemala City.  They children are helped with homework, given a meal and have a place other than the dangerous streets to play and learn.  The other is a large, multi-facet ministry operated by REMAR (Rehabiliate a Marginal Population).  They have orphanages, a center for abandoned babies, home for unwed mothers, vocational training for rescued street people and a variety of other ministries.

In addition to the ministry opportunities, our group will experience Guatemalan culture, hearing their music, dining in their restaurant and touring some of their historic sites.  Included will be a day in "Antigua", a city founded in the 1500's as well as a trip to a volcanic lake.

If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, contact me by e-mail at mitchell@ntzchs.org or by phone during regular office hours at 601-442-6858.
